80′s INSPIRED

The decade that revolutionized clothing, the decade that many people rocked out to, and the decade that will always be remembered is the 80′s.  During the 1980′s everything was original.  People experimented with color, people experimented with prints, and most of all people explored their individual sense of style. Thirty years later, the 80′s is still inspiring people of all ages. Unfortunately many people do not know how to translate those styles, to fit today’s fashion. We will explain how the 80′s can be revamped to work with everyday attire.

80's Shoulder Pad

First misconception from the 80′s, are shoulder pads. Shoulder pads were a huge trend thirty years ago. They were attached to every jacket and made a statement whenever worn. This trend died several years ago, however due to major fashion houses revisiting this element of design, we are beginning to see more shoulder pads in today’s clothing.  The problem with shoulder pads, were that they were over powering. Fortunately for today’s fashion, shoulder pads are making a comeback, in a strong way. Shoulder Pads today aren’t as big, tall and wide as they once were. To achieve a new, fresh and trendy look, we would advise our readers to wear a blazer with strong shoulders with a pair of skinny jeans and pumps. This look has been made famous by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian. With this new outlook on shoulder pads, many people can now make this trend work, properly.

1980's NEON

1980's NEON

Another trend from the 1980′s which has a negative connotation is neon color. Neon was seen everywhere from videos, to workout gear. Neon was worn to the office and out for dinner, but thirty years later, this color trend has not died.  Instead of wearing neon from head to toe, we would advise our readers to use only a splash of this loud color trend.  We would pair neutral pants with a bright neon belt or a scarf, for a splash of color. Wearing neon colors in little bits allows on lookers to appreciate your sense of style.

80's hair

The final trend of the 80′s was big hair.  Big hair was the finishing piece to just about every outfit. Thirty years later we would advise our readers to revamp this look by creating dimension in a different way.  The 80′s showcased hairstyles with a lot of volume at the crown of a head.  We would advise our readers to increase volume by curing their hair in many layers. Curling your hair adds dimension without being overpowering. Last thing to note is, thirty years later, big hair can still be sexy, but should be appropriate to the current year.

Follow the above suggestions and you will be able to revamp any 80′s look, to work for you today!
