Take Me Away Tuesdays: AFRICA

Africa, one of the 7 continents on the planet, the birthplace of many peoples ancestors and a major tourist attraction, is the theme for this Tuesday’s post.   When traveling to this part of the world, a person’s look may vary.  January skyy has put together a compilation of differenct outfits which can work when visiting.

fatigue look

Safari – Everyone loves an adventure, especially when your at the center of it all.  South Africa, Botswana,  Tanzania, Kenya and Namibia are five countries to visit if looking for the perfect safari expedition.  When going on an adventure, the most important rule is comfort.  Being comfortable is highly important, as one will experience lots of walking, bumps, dips and turns. Wearing an army fatigue/camouflage outfit is also a good idea, as it wouldn’t be wise to draw attention to yourself.  You can throw on a pair of hiking boots to assure you will not get hurt during your journey.

Cities- Exploring different cities are another reason people visit Africa.  There are many beautiful cities, with delicious-authentic cuisines,  and live entertainment.  January Skyy believes that in order to become more in-touch with the city in which  you are visiting, try wearing their native clothes.  Women, should try wearing a Boubou.  A Boubou is a traditional piece of clothing made from different materials, embroideries and prints.  This item has a men’s version as well, which is called a Danshiki.  A Danshiki can be topped off by wearing a hat otherwise known as a Fila (pronounced as Fee-La).  You can also wear a Lapa, which is made for a fuller figured woman, to accentuate her curves.  This item of clothing is well respected, and if seen in one,  as will you.  Apart form the pieces I mentioned, customizing a design to your taste, shape and structure can also be done by an expert seamstress.

Voyages – Some people also visit Africa to explore the pyramids of ancient Egypt. If visiting one of these pyramids, January Skyy would suggest you wearing, comfortable sneakers. Pair the sneakers with either some loose relaxed fit jeans or khakis.  We would also recommend a t-shirt or tank top with some sort of layer piece.  This will assure that you will be comfortable, with the surrounding temperature , making it easy to move around.

If you follow the above rules, January Skyy is confident your outfits will go the distance.
